Midwest Chiropractic and Wellness of Eden Prairie-Frequently asked questions

What is an adjustment?

An adjustment is a specific force applied to the body for the purpose of correcting a misalignment of the spinal column, these misalignments are referred to by Chiropractors as subluxations.

What is a subluxation?

Subluxation is a word Chiropractors use to describe a misalignment of one or more of the 24 vertebrae in the spinal column. These misalignments cause a disruption in nerve function causing the body to experience a diminished capacity for proper function. Ultimately, these areas also lead to degenerative disc disease in the spine, also know as arthritis.

I don't have any back pain, is it still important for me to see a Chiropractor?

About 10% of our nervous system is designed to register pain, the other 90% directs the function of the body. Because the nervous system is designed this way, it is possible, and very common, for someone to have spinal subluxations and not feel like they have a problem. It is important to keep your spine and nervous system functioning properly throughout your life by getting regular check-ups from your Chiropractor. The nervous system also functions hand in hand with our immune system, this means that people who are adjusted regularly have stronger immune systems than the average person.

Is it OK to see a chiropractor if I'm pregnant?

Anytime is a good time for a better functioning nerve system. Pregnant mothers find that chiropractic adjustments improve their pregnancy and make delivery easier for themselves and their baby. Adjusting methods are always adapted to a patient’s size, weight, age, and condition of health.
